Has conseguido el noveno lugar en Brasil, ¿cómo te ha ido la carrera?
"Tuvimos un buen ritmo durante el fin de semana, y creo que siempre estuvimos luchando un poco después de una mala salida en el Sprint el sábado. La carrera fue buena, pero creo que alcanzamos nuestro potencial y no pudimos detener al Alpha Tauri que tenía neumáticos más frescos. Hicimos nuestro mejor esfuerzo, pero su ventaja de ritmo era demasiado fuerte con los neumáticos nuevos. Al final, ambos coches terminaron en los puntos y eso es lo que tenemos que hacer si queremos terminar por delante de ellos en la clasificación. Estará cerca hasta el final, por lo que debemos maximizar todo de las últimas tres carreras y seguir trabajando bien juntos como lo hicimos en Brasil".
Qatar es nuevo para la mayor parte del campo, ¿cuáles son tus expectativas de cara a ese país?
"Siempre disfruto de las carreras en Oriente Medio. Losail es una pista que no conocemos muy bien, pero ha estado en el calendario de MotoGP durante muchos años, por lo que tenemos la mente abierta hacia allí. He conversado con Davide Brivio sobre el circuito para ver qué tenía que decir, ya que es el que tiene más experiencia allí en todo el equipo. Allí corremos en bastantes circuitos, las instalaciones son buenas y, por lo general, se garantiza un buen tiempo. Hemos echado un vistazo a la pista en simuladores y a bordo y se ve rápido con un buen flujo. Será interesante ver cómo se comporta un coche de Fórmula 1 en el circuito en comparación con una motocicleta".
Volvió a ser un fin de semana de carreras estándar en Qatar, ¿cuál es tu evaluación del formato Sprint Race utilizado este año?
"Creo que han hecho que el fin de semana sea más emocionante, ya que si eres un fanático viendo desde casa puedes ver dos carreras. También es bueno ir directamente a cosas emocionantes como la clasificación, en lugar de tener dos sesiones de práctica el viernes. Es útil para nosotros y los equipos tener estas sesiones de práctica, pero tal vez como fanático no sea tan emocionante de ver. Por lo que hemos visto con Sprint Qualifying, cuando tienes la alineación de la parrilla en su orden de rendimiento, por supuesto, verás que esos coches terminan de la misma manera. Vimos que cuando Lewis (Hamilton) llegó a la carga el sábado fue divertido de ver, pero todo lo demás seguía igual. Y vemos lo mismo en la Fórmula 2 y la Fórmula 3 debido a las parillas inversas. Creo que el formato es interesante y es importante que intentemos algo diferente, pero hay algunos ajustes que debemos tener en cuenta para convertirlo en un paquete completo. Estoy seguro de que todos charlaremos sobre esto la próxima temporada y veremos qué se puede hacer".

You grabbed ninth in Brazil; how did you find the race?
"We had good pace during the weekend, and I think we were always fighting back a bit after a poor start to the Sprint on Saturday. The race itself was good but I think we reached our potential and couldn't hold off the Alpha Tauri who had fresher tyres. We tried our best, but their pace advantage was too strong on the new tyres. In the end we had both cars finish in the points and that is what we need to do if we're to finish ahead of them in the standings. It'll be close until the end, so we need to maximise everything from the last three races and continue to work together well like we did in Brazil."
Qatar is a new one for most of the field, what are your expectations heading there?
"I always enjoy racing in the Middle East. Losail is a track we don't know that well, but it’s been on the MotoGP calendar for many years, so we're open minded heading there. I've chatted with Davide Brivio about the circuit to see what he had to say as he has the most experience there in the whole team. We race in quite a few circuits there and the facilities are good, and you're usually guaranteed nice weather. We've had a look at the track on simulators and onboards and it does look fast with a nice flow to it. It'll be interesting to see how a Formula 1 car behaves around the circuit compared to a motorcycle."
It's back to a standard race weekend in Qatar, what is your evaluation of the Sprint Race format used this year?
"I think they have made the weekend more exciting as if you're a fan watching from home you get to see two races. It's also good to go straight into the exciting stuff like qualifying, rather than have two practice sessions on Friday. It's useful for us and the teams to have these practice sessions, but maybe as a fan it's not that exciting to watch. From what we've seen with Sprint Qualifying, when you have the grid line-up in its performance order then of course you're going to see those cars finishing in that same way. We saw when Lewis (Hamilton) came charging through on Saturday it was fun to watch but everything else was staying the same. And we see the same in Formula 2 and Formula 3 due to the reverse grids. I think the format is interesting and it's important we try something different, but there are a few tweaks we need to look at to make it a total package. I'm sure we'll all chat about this next season and see what can be done."
